CARES (Children's After-school Recreational & Educational Support) provides a structured after-school education program for our students.

In our CARES program, students receive the support and guidance that they need to succeed in school through one-on-one tutoring and mentoring in a Christian setting. We focus on the whole child and their academic, emotional, spiritual, and social growth. We work closely with teachers and parents to develop and execute an individualized learning plan for each child and routinely see improvement in subject comprehension and grades. You may mail completed applications to Wesley House.

Scholarship Application Fall 2019-Spring 2020

Scholarship applications are due back no later Wednesday, July 31st.

PACE (Performing Arts and Cultural Education) is a part of the CARES curriculum, offering a variety of activities focused on arts and culture.

Through PACE, we offer learning beyond academics.  Through such activities as singing, sewing, music lessons, golf or dance, the PACE program allows at-risk youth to improve their learning, skills, creativity, discipline, and ability to work as a team through creative expression.  PACE exposes our children to positive activities that build confidence and self-esteem.

If you are interested in leading a PACE activity please contact Kim Ramsingh at [email protected] or (865) 524-7185.

STEP (Summer Time Enrichment Program) is a summer day camp for inner-city children and youth.

STEP is a summer day camp program that continues where CARE ends.  Each day the children receive breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.  But most importantly, they receive two and a half hours of educational instruction each morning in a fun learning environment.  This educational focus better prepares our students to successfully return to school in the fall.  Afternoons are reserved for field trips, swimming, arts and crafts, and Wednesday water play.

WISE (Wellness In Senior Education) serves our inner-city senior citizens.

WISE provides food, fun, and fellowship for a group of inner-city senior citizens. Our seniors gather on Fridays for a noon meal and fellowship (including their favorite activity – BINGO!). Often, this is the only time the seniors leave their homes during the week. Throughout the year, our staff keeps in contact with our seniors, assisting with day-to-day needs. Wesley House has provided help and support to senior citizens for over 60 years.

Seniors must be signed up in advance to participate. There currently is a waiting list for WISE. If you are interested, please contact Sharon at Wesley House at 865-524-5494.
